And here is my take of Owl City’s, Cave In.
Owl City - Cave In
(going paragraph by paragraph) in bold
Please take a long hard look through your text book
‘Cause I’m history
When I strap my helmet on I’ll be long gone
‘Cause I’ve been dying to leave
Yeah, I’ll ride the range and hide all my loose change
In my bedroom
‘Cause riding a dirtbike down a turnpike
Always takes it’s toll on me
(To all you scholars out there…you NEED to take a greater look at what you are actually doing with your life. Take a long hard look at what you are learning in high school/college and how it makes sense with YOUR LIFE…then, when you finally decide to take that step, strap on your “helmet” and make the decision to just go, Live Your Life. For me, I have these feeling’s and I have been ready to leave for some time now, I just have not strapped my helmet on. Riding the range personally means my life at its current state, me going to school, working, and earning hard earned money. For now I need to save for the day in my LIFE where I change so I will save my change, which I actually keep in my bedroom…cause driving those long rides to work really do take a toll on me and I am in need of a change.)
I’ve had just about enough
Of quote, “diamonds in the rough”
Because my backbone is paper thin
Get me out of this cavern
Or I’ll cave in
(Lately I have noticed the very finite, small, precise, exact, moments in my life where I have noticed the worlds quote, “diamonds in the rough”. So many things in life are taken for granted. They are overlooked and forgotten when their true beauty needs to be put out there. I have had enough and I need to get out of this cavern (my house is pretty dark and shady) or else, well I cannot LIVE my life)
If the bombs go off
The sun will still be shining
Because we’ve heard it said that every mushroom cloud
Has a silver lining
(Though I’m always undermining too deep to know)
Swallow a drop of gravel and blacktop
‘Cause the road tastes like wintergreen
The wind and the rain smell of oil and octane
Mixed with stale gasoline
I’ll soak up the sound trying to sleep on the wet ground
I’ll get ten minutes give-or-take
‘Cause I just don’t foresee myself getting drowsy
When cold integrity keeps me wide awake
(Were all living in this great war of today between countries based on religion. Everyone is fighting because of well, differing religious views to be blatantly honest. We need to all realize that even though these war’s are going on there is still light at the end of the tunnel if we just look in the right places, but another fact is that we really don’t know the truth of what will happen. I believe it says you need to just get on the road and taste what your life can be. All it takes is that first step to get going on your road to life and you will be free. The search for an internal happiness will always keep you awake and wanting more in life.)
Get me out of this cavern
Or I’ll cave in
(Again, if you can not live your life the way you want to live it then you should get out of the predicament you are in and broaden your surroundings instead of caving in.)
I’ll keep my helmet on just in case my head caves in
‘Cause if my thoughts collapse or my framework snaps
It’ll make a mess like you wouldn’t believe
Tie my handlebars to the stars so I stay on track
And if my intentions stray I’ll wrench them away
Then I’ll take my leave and I won’t even look back
I won’t even look back
(The path of your Life may be weary so you still need to be cautious making your descisions, people have been ruined by making their beliefs in something control their lives. If you do that then it will make a huge problem in your life. If your dreams are continuously differentiating and imaginative you will never let something encompass you because you are expecting the unaccepted and accepting the unexpected. When you make your final choice, don’t ever look back.)
